Milan Supply Chain Solutions over-the-road driver, Barry Morrison, has traveled through 42 of America’s 50 states and is nearing three million miles of safe driving.
“Every week I drive anywhere from 2,500 to 2,700 miles,” Morrison said. He has driven for Milan Supply Chain Solutions for 22 years and is a new driver trainer.
He is also in his second year representing Milan Supply Chain Solutions as a Tennessee Trucking Association Road Team Captain. TTA’s Road Team Captain program is sponsored by the Tennessee Trucking Foundation, which is funded by Bridgestone Commercial Solutions. TTA selects drivers with superior records and a willingness to help spread the word about highway safety.
“Last year some of the captains went to the University of Tennessee at Martin to speak to a group about safe driving,” Morrison said. “We also toured a scale house (weigh station) on Interstate 40 just outside of Brownsville (Tennessee).”
Before he became a truck driver, Morrison worked in several factories.
“I had always liked trucks,” he said. “My grade school was near a highway, and I used to stare out of the window and watch them drive by.”
As a driver for Milan Supply Chain Solutions, Morrison is satisfied in a dependable career.
“One of my favorite things about working for Milan is that it’s small enough that they know you,” Morrison said. “I don’t have to give my dispatcher my number because she knows who I am. And I like being home on the weekends.”
Through the years Morrison discovered his favorite highways in North Carolina, Mississippi and Alabama.
“The best days are when everything runs smooth, the weather is warm and there are no traffic jams,” Morrison said.
Morrison’s story is an example of how Milan Supply Chain Solutions’ commitment to excellence extends to its drivers and the clients the company serves.
