MILAN Supply Chain Solutions’ team honored their truck drivers during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week September 11-15, 2017. MILAN office personnel started the week off by wearing red, white, and blue in memory of those that lost their lives on 9/11.
MILAN provided drivers with free lunches daily and this year, added two free dinners at night for those drivers that were not able to get back to the terminal during the day. The office personnel made homemade desserts for the driver’s meals as another token of appreciation. MILAN also gave each driver a Milan logo T-Shirt and they had the opportunity to win several prizes (32” Televisions, Visa Gift Cards, DeWalt Tools, etc…) that were donated by MILAN’s customers/vendors.
This is an opportunity to recognize the 3.5 million trucking professionals across the country whose work is some of the most personally demanding and economically significant in the United States.
Truck drivers work long and often grueling hours, sacrificing personal time with family and friends to move more than 10 billion tons of freight across 432 billion miles each year. They are the lifeblood of the supply chain. (http://www.inboundlogistics.com/cms/article/national-truck-driver-appreciation-week-celebrates-unsung-heroes/)
“It was a great time for our office personnel to show their appreciation to our drivers as they are not as fortunate as we are to be able to go home every night. Our drivers are family to us and it was a great week to welcome them home” Human Resource Manager, Wendi Allen said.
